I switched from the audiobook method to reading (not listening to) a new book, whatever book, before sleep, no phone, and it works great

Yeeeeah, I've been resisting because I could see the ai slop working. Listening to actual audio books or to soothing classical music... must. Be. Strong.

I use the sleep stories on the Calm app, I especially like the Minor Mysteries and usually just cycle through them.

Would you believe me if I told you that in order to fall asleep when I lived with my mother, I had to listen to metal to drown her snores out? Granted, it was at the lowest still detectable volume possible, but I'd just set the timer on my iPod and sleep.

I do that with headphones and earplugs whenever there's a noisy party in the neighborhood.

If you're worried about using that slop to go to sleep, just block all of it from your feed. It might be tempting to keep on listening to that if all you want is some dreamless sleep, but in the end, it will affect your thought processes more than what anyone thinks. I also have ADHD, and I had to block short videos on YT, IG and I never, ever use TikTok, because short videos shot my attention span. Now I prefer watching really long videos (among them yours, of course!), because it's my way of training my attention span (which is still kind of bad, but it's getting better).

Not sure if I've seen these (I'm curious now), but we consistently get recommended the AI text-to-voice cat compilation videos. The commentary is soooo bad that Angela and I usually just start making fun of the hilarious monologues, instead of watching cats do cat things.
